Blake is based in Oxford but was born in Cape Town, South Africa, where he lived until moving to Norwich three years ago. He completed undergraduate and postgraduate degrees at the University of Cape Town, before undertaking his MA in Creative Writing at the University of East Anglia. His academic research has centred on the work of F. Scott Fitzgerald.

Blake has since completed his debut novel, One Small Evil, and is working with a UK-based agency to prepare it for submission. An early draft of this project has been excerpted by Egg Box Publishing.

His non-book interests include Arsenal Football Club, weightlifting, and competitive debate, in which he has been involved for most of his life. He has competed in two World Championships and coached several record-breaking teams in South Africa.
